5 Essential Links for WordPress Site Owners and Business Bloggers

For those of you who can’t get enough educational links throughout the week, make sure you follow the Synthesis Twitter list here. That list and the @Copyblogger account are the main places I curate the Friday links from every week.

Let’s begin with a link that Copyblogger tweeted out earlier today. If you want to donate to help the victims of the raging Colorado wildfires, click here.

Here are this week’s links …

  1. 12 Must-Do Tasks for the New WordPress Site Owner
I linked to this earlier in the week when I espoused the virtues of the WordPress Jetpack plugin, but it warrants linking to again. All 12 of these tasks are very worthwhile for a new WP site owner.
  2. Blogging To Build Your Business
Michael Hyatt discusses the benefits of blogging to build a new business, plus some best-practice strategies for doing so. One of his suggestions: use Scribe for SEO. We concur.
  3. The 6 Best Growth Hacks to Get Customers Without Having to Pay for Them
Check out what #1 is: “A slow site turns customers away. It has a direct impact on your wallet. In fact, “a 1 second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.” Just sayin’…
  4. Community: The best local SEO strategy you’re not using
Our friends at Raven provide an insightful and actionable breakdown of an oft-overlooked local SEO strategy.
  5. The 100 WordPress Related Blogs You Need In Your Life
This link was sent to me through our help desk, and I must say that it’s a pretty thorough compilation of WordPress-related websites. Also, he has the founder of StudioPress.tv listed as “Brain” Gardner, which I’m sure Brian Gardner will appreciate.

And speaking of Brian Gardner and his web-famous brain, here is a helpful, convenient repository of code snippets for the Genesis framework. And here is a helpful tutorial on how to add content boxes to your Genesis-powered site.

Have a great weekend everyone. If you have link suggestions you’d like me to consider for next week’s edition, email me:

Or, tweet me the link at @WebSynthesis.
